HC750 well underway on South Fork wind

The second wind turbine feedering project is getting up to speed: the HC750 is lifting Siemens Gamesa turbines for Van Oord Offshore Wind at Ørsteds South Fork wind farm for the state of New York. Two of our machines are now working ~50 miles apart to support the US offshore wind industry getting their turbines out into the ocean.

Some numbers on our operations for 2023 for both projects combined:

  •  ·                              ~20.000 mT of heave compensated fast lifts

  • ·                              ~40 major components fast lifted from floating barges

  • ·                              ~60 compensated backloads of lifting tools & frames

  • ·                              ~18 hours: Average Heave Chief operational cycle time per barge. Goal of 12hrs seems within reach

  • ·                              0 injuries and environmental or safety issues

Below a nice example of one such fast lift, of a blade rack positioned far out on the side of the supply barge. Afterwards, the 3 modules of the blade rack construction are backloaded using a compensated follow-mode lift to its original positions.
